How it works

Transact. Qualify. Unlock. Repeat.

A customer does something you value. Your rule decides whether they qualify. Data unlocks in your name. Next week, it happens again.

A young professional on a bus celebrating with a fist pump as she looks at her phone.

The customer journey

Follow one customer through a week.

What the customer sees in your app, and what each side does behind it.

Step 1 of 4 · Transact

The customer does something you value

They get paid into their account, as they normally would. Nothing new to learn, nothing to download.

Your team
Your systems record the activity, as they do today.
Aura
Receives the qualifying activity, using the integration method agreed with your team.

Step 2 of 4 · Qualify

Your rule decides who qualifies

You decide who qualifies, what they need to do, how much data they get and how often.

Your team
Set the rule, within the economics you have agreed.
Aura
Checks each customer against your rule, automatically.

Step 3 of 4 · Unlock

Data arrives, in your name

The data lands on the network the customer already uses. The plan carries your brand.

Your team
Your brand on the plan, in your channels.
Aura
Delivers the data and reconciles every unlock.

Step 4 of 4 · Repeat

Keep the behaviour, keep the benefit

Next week the same behaviour unlocks the next 5GB. Stop, and the unlocks stop. That is what builds the routine.

Your team
Review the results and decide what scales.
Aura
Measures the change against a matched control group and improves the design.

The operating model

You set the rules. Aura designs the mechanism within them.

Your bank decides who qualifies, what they need to do, how much data they receive and how often. Aura turns that into a programme that runs, and runs everything underneath it.

For product and technology teams: how qualifying behaviour is assessed

Qualification uses activity your systems already record, such as salary credits, balances or transactions. Only the data needed to check the rule, deliver the data and measure the results is shared, by an integration method agreed with your technology team during planning.

Aura checks each customer against the agreed rule, triggers delivery on the customer’s mobile network and reconciles what was earned, delivered and charged. Reports cover qualification, delivery, reconciliation and the outcome measures against the control group.

Why weekly

A monthly plan, unlocked in weekly steps.

A month of data arrives as a series of weekly unlocks. Each one is a reason to keep the behaviour going, and a reminder of who it came from.

Amounts are illustrative. The real benefit and frequency come out of your programme design.

How results are monitored

Measured against customers who were not offered the plan.

Every programme starts as an experiment: one group of customers, one behaviour, and a matched control group. The difference between the two groups is what the programme caused.

  • Measures and success criteria are agreed before launch
  • Reports cover qualification, delivery, reconciliation and outcomes
  • Scaling is decided by the results
Economics and measurement

Test group offered the plan

Matched control group not offered the plan

  • Would have done it anyway. In the test group they still qualify, so they are part of the cost.
  • The extra behaviour. Only this difference counts as the programme’s benefit.
  • No change.

The Aura Method

Start with the behaviour, not the data.

Five steps take a programme from an idea to proven economics.

  1. Find the opportunity

Why customers chose you, what they want, and what their behaviour is worth.

  2. Design the trigger

Audience, behaviour, threshold, benefit and frequency.

  3. Run the experiment

A test group against a matched control group.

  4. Automate what works

Customer activity triggers qualification and delivery automatically.

  5. Prove the economics

Extra behaviour, its value to you, and the return.

From first insight to your own data plan

  1. Learn what value means to your customers

Why each group chose you, what they want to achieve, and when they first get real value.

  2. Prove one routine

One group, one behaviour, weekly data while they keep it up, against a control group.

  3. Build a plan for each group

The same ingredients, in a different order and mix for each reason customers bank with you.

  4. Launch your own data plan

Your own branded data plan, across your customer groups.

Programme design

Questions from growth and product teams.

All questions

Who decides the rules?

You do. Your bank decides who qualifies, what they need to do, how much data they receive and how often they qualify. Aura designs a mechanism that works within those rules.

Which behaviours can we reward?

Behaviours you can see in your own data and that are worth more to you than they cost to reward. The proposal focuses on salary paid in, higher balances and everyday transactions, with activation, reactivation and premium upgrades as routes to the same goal.

The behaviour, threshold and frequency for your programme are set during design, from what each behaviour is worth to you.

How much data should customers get?

That comes out of the design, not a price list. We start from what the behaviour is worth to you, work out what can profitably be spent to cause it, and only then set the reward. Amounts on this site, such as 5GB a week, are illustrative.

How does our brand appear to customers?

It is your data plan, in your brand, in your channels. A small Powered by Aura credit can sit beneath it as a secondary endorsement. Your brand is always the hero.

Do customers have to switch network?

No. The plans are delivered on the networks your customers already use. Network coverage for your market is confirmed during planning.

Start with one behaviour. Grow into a plan.

Tell us the behaviour you want more of. We will show you how a first experiment could test it, and what it would need to be worth.
